Solid Bleached Sulfate (SBS) paperboard is manufactured from 100% virgin bleached chemical pulp, resulting in a bright white, clay-coated surface that delivers the highest print quality achievable in folding carton packaging. Available from 12pt to 24pt, SBS is the material of choice for pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food packaging where both regulatory compliance and shelf visual impact are critical.

At Brisk Packaging, SBS paperboard is used to produce folding cartons, setup boxes, blister card backs, sleeve packaging, and high-end retail boxes. The smooth, calendered surface accepts lithographic printing with sub-millimeter registration accuracy, making it ideal for photorealistic images, fine type, and brand-critical color matching. Multiple coating weights allow the outer surface to be engineered specifically for gloss, matte, or soft-touch lamination finishes.

Because SBS uses virgin fiber, it is inherently food-safe and FDA-compliant for direct food contact on the print-free side, meeting requirements for cereal boxes, frozen food cartons, and pharmaceutical blister packs. While it carries a slightly higher cost than recycled-fiber alternatives, the combination of consistent caliper, brightness, and printability makes SBS the industry standard for premium retail folding cartons.
